The Foundation of True Spirituality (1 Corinthians 12:1-3)

Sunday, March 1, 2026 • Pastor Joe

Having addressed hierarchy in worship (11:2-16) and the vital connection between unity and the Lord's Supper, Paul moves to a third worship-related issue, spiritual gifts. This short passage on true spirituality is an introduction to and a foundational for his discussion on gifts.

Unity and the Lord's Supper (1 Corinthians 11:17-34)

Sunday, February 22, 2026 • Pastor Joe

In addressing issues related to worship practices in Corinth, Paul turned his attention to the celebration of the Lord's Supper and its critical relationship with Church unity.

Gender Hierarchy in God's Holy Church (1 Corinthians 11:2-16)

Sunday, February 15, 2026 • Pastor Joe

The Apostle Paul continues to answer questions from the Church at Corinth. Having discussed marriage (ch.7) and Christian liberty (ch.8-10), Paul now addresses the issue of gender and church leadership.

The Four Cs of Faithful Christian Liberty (1 Corinthians 10:14-11:1)

Sunday, February 8, 2026 • Pastor Joe

In today's study, Paul completes his response to the Corinthians' second question about the proper practice of Christian liberty. The Apostle provides four keys to realizing the general principle he initially asserted.

Avoiding Disqualification for the 'Strong' Believer in Christian Liberty (1 Corinthians 10:1-13)

Sunday, February 1, 2026 • Pastor Joe

The congregation at Corinth was divided; some felt free to attend pagan festivals where food sacrificed to idols was served. In today's passage of study, Paul gives a warning to the "strong" Believer on his liberties so that he/she may not suffer "disqualification" of heavenly rewards.

The Apostle Paul's Personal Practicum on the Practice of Christian Liberty (1 Corinthians 9:1-27)

Monday, January 26, 2026 • Pastor Joe

In last week's study, Paul encouraged the Corinthians to lovingly respect one another's convictions. Did Paul practice what he preached? Chapter 9 is Paul's personal testimony of his practice of Christian liberty.

Christian Liberty in the Balance (1 Corinthians 8:1-13)

Sunday, January 18, 2026 • Pastor Joe

In chapters 8-10, Paul answers a second question posed by the Corinthian church. This question concerned Christian liberty. The specific issue was participation in pagan festivals at which foods offered to idols was served. Were Christians free to participate or not, and what happens if there are different convictions within the church? In his response, Paul provides a balance to Christian liberty.

To Marry or NOT to Marry? That is the Question (1 Corinthians 7:25-40)

Sunday, January 11, 2026 • Pastor Joe

Previously (7:17-24), Paul said that the situational circumstances of one's conversion need not be changed in order for a Believer to be of effective service in God's Kingdom (I.e., if married, stay married. If single, stay single). Paul now applies his principle to a specific situation where a betrothed couple was under pressure to break their "engagement."

The Contextual Significance of a Christian's Calling (1 Corinthians 7:17-24)

Sunday, November 23, 2025 • Pastor Joe

When a wife in Corinth abandoned her marriage in pursuit of higher spirituality, Paul addressed the permanence of marriage (7:10-16). He then broadened his discussion of marriage to address whether or not a new Believer must radically change their situational circumstances to serve in God's Kingdom.

The Permanence of Marriage (1 Corinthians 7:10-16)

Sunday, November 16, 2025 • Pastor Joe

Paul continued answering the questions posed by the Church at Corinth on the topic of marriage, perhaps extrapolating a bit on a situation he addressed previously (and we studied last week).

The Delightful Duty of Marital Sex (1 Corinthians 7:1-9)

Sunday, November 9, 2025 • Pastor Joe

Paul entered the third division of his epistle, one that addressed specific questions from the Church at Corinth (difficulties). This first study introduces a larger dialogue about marriage.

Fleeing the Sexual Revolution (1 Corinthians 6:12-20)

Sunday, November 2, 2025 • Pastor Joe

The Corinthians misunderstood their new freedom in Christ (6:11-12) and justified illegitimate activities using popular slogans from their culture for support. Paul responded to their slogans with sound theology.
